All About Caveplayers
Cave Players is the name of the local amateur drama group based in South/North Cave, hence the name, although you don’t have to be from the Cave area to join us as we have members from Cottingham, Hessle, Hull, Market Weighton and Skidby. Rehearsals take place in South Cave at the WI Hall and performances take place in North Cave at the Village Hall.
We are a friendly group who welcome new members as part of the family. We are not ‘luvvies and darlings’ but enjoy what we do and do it rather well. We do an annual pantomime at the end of January and then a review type performance in May.
Our past pantomimes have included Mother Goose, The King’s New Clothes, Cinderella, Aladdin, Red Riding Hood, Babes in the Wood, Sleeping Beauty and many more; some specially written for Cave Players. To see a list of them please use the link to our past productions. Our previous May productions have included such things as The Oscars, Wish You Were Here, Has It Really Been 50 Years (our Jubilee celebration), an Old Time Music Hall and The Roaring Twenties. You can see more on these in our Past Events Area.
If you have ever thought it would be fun to join a drama group but have been put off because you think you have to be a great actor, think again! We have fun and we believe that enthusiasm plays a big part in talent. We don’t expect you to be Dame Judi Dench or Sir Anthony Hopkins, just someone who is a little extrovert and doesn’t mind getting up on stage and making a fool of themselves if necessary! But we also need members who are willing to do all the other things that go to make a successful performance; prompting, makeup, costumes, stage and scenery and of course the most important – making the tea!
